We’ve already told you about the Challenges we’ve launched this season. On 21 February we went a step further.
On 21 February at La Molina, in the Catalan Pyrenees, we held a live Skitude Challenge, organised jointly with Diari de la Neu, Laneu.cat and the Catalan brand Söll. This challenge was also part of ‘EsquiVIP’ Day, organised by the same partners.
EsquiVIP was a special event limited to just a few people who were able to enjoy a great day of skiing with a host of supplementary activities coordinated by professionals of the sector.
The day began with a tour around the resort with a deluxe guide, Toni Sanmartí, Director of La Molina, and also attended by Eloi Cordomí, the Televisió de Catalunya weatherman. Following the visit, those attending were treated to a master class by Edi Breitfuss and had the chance to try out the latest Head ski models. To round off the event, there was a high-altitude meal at the Costa Rasa restaurant, where Eloi Cordomí told us about how the climate conditions provide us with the best snow. This was followed by a tasting of Mestres cavas while admiring the sunset, finishing off the day with a torch-lit descent.
The VIP Challenge
In this connection we organised the VIP Challenge, a live challenge available not only to the participants in the EsquiVIP, but also to all the skiers at the resort. The challenge was coordinated by four members of the Skitude team, who explained how the challenge works to everyone interested, managed and monitored the entire activity and provided technical backup.
To take part in this VIP Challenge, the users only needed to log onto the La Molina official app or to the Skitude app and then record over 10 km on the slopes, so that their photos could be selected for prizes in three different categories – most amusing photo, best family photo and most glamorous photo. During the course of the challenge, the participants were able to watch their activities in the specially set-up marquee which had a screen showing the users who had finished the 10 km distance, as well as all the photos being taken.
The winners of each category received a Turräy Söll technical ski jacket and a complimentary Skitude neck warmer. The prizes were presented by Enric Ticó, Chairman of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (the Catalan railway network), Toní Sanmartí, Director of La Molina and Marta Viver, Commercial Director of La Molina. The three winning photos are shown below.
The challenge was a great success. It was a pleasure to meet the more than 100 participants and be able to tell all the skiers at La Molina about everything our platform offers and to show them how it works. We hope that this live challenge will be the first of a long list!
Many thanks to everyone who shared this day with us!
