Grandvalira is the largest skiable area in Andorra and considered one of the best mountain resorts in the world, offers their guests their own mobile application since the 2013/2014 season.
In this post, Kiko Sánchez, Grandvalira‘s Online Marketing Responsable, spoke to us about his experience over these past two seasons and the future of the app.
Kiko has a background in the audiovisual sector and has specialized in this type of online content management for the past 10 years, developing web sites and audio/video streaming platforms.
Since joining the Grandvalira marketing department, he has always wanted to combine his experience in the audiovisual world with the company’s online projects. He said, “In a sector like ours, there is no better way advertise our product than in an audiovisual medium. It is the best way to communicate and broadcast all the experiences that Grandvalira offers, especially when one lives these experiences in the moment.
When did the need to develop a mobile application for skiing appear?
Grandvalira has always sought technological innovation, in all areas. The creation of Grandvalira during the 2003-2004 season, resulted in the joining of Pas de la Casa – Grau Roig and Soldeu – El Tarter resorts, more information is available online at www.grandvalira.com. It was in 2010 that we decided to develop our app for mobile phones, available for iOS and Android platforms
What does this new medium offer your clients? What advantages does it have over other apps?
The advantages of having a mobile app are multiple when comparing to a website or mobile website.
There is a lot value added by having an app available that uses all the phone’s features, like the camera or the gps, combined with the ease of being able to instantly share this information via messenger apps or social networks. This all improves your client’s visit at Grandvalira.
Are you planning to release any new features?
Yes, of course, this is something that never stops!
This year we are planning to release various new features for our app and we have been working on some features for more than a year.
All of them offer extra value added and improve the clients’ experience at Grandvalira. We are always thinking of what is the perfect compliment for their visit at our ski resort.
What are they? We can’t reveal them just yet, but we will anounce soon during our offical presentation of the 2015-2016 season planned for this next November.

Our relationship with Skitude has always been fantastic. Since the first day, our communication has been open and their willingness to complete the improvements that we suggest is the best.
